Person Dressed In All Black Approaches Teen In Cleveland Heights

Police said a person dressed in all black walked toward a teenage girl on Wednesday morning. The girl screamed and the person ran off.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β€” A person dressed in all black clothing approached a 17-year-old girl as she walked her dog on Colchester on Wednesday morning. The teenager screamed and the man ran off, police said.

The incident happened at 7:30 a.m. The teenager had just left her house when she heard rustling in the neighbor's buses. When she turned to look, a person wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants was walking toward her. The person walked slowly and the teenager screamed.

After she screamed, the black-clad person ran through backyards toward North Park. The girl was not hurt and the person disappeared without saying anything.

Police said the teenager was unable to describe the race or gender of the person. Officers searched the area but found no one matching the girl's description.

Cleveland Heights police are asking residents, or passerby, who may have seen something suspicious on Wednesday morning to contact investigators at 216-321-1234.

"As a reminder to everyone, be vigilant and remain aware of your surroundings at all times, no matter where you are. If you see any activity or anyone suspicious, please call the Police immediately. Officers are always in the area in the area in the mornings and afternoons when kids are walking to and from school, and we will ensure that officers continue to be in the area as we investigate this incident further," Police Chief Annette Mecklenburg said.
