Police Car Chase Ends In 3-Vehicle Accident, 1 Seriously Hurt

Cleveland Heights cops were chasing a suspected stolen car when the vehicle caused a 3-car accident. One person is in critical condition.

CLEVELAND, OH β€” A Cleveland Heights Police car chase ended in a three-vehicle accident on Monday night, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. One person suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident.

Police began chasing a stolen 2005 Buick at about 10:55 p.m. Monday. The sedan was speeding away from officers, onto Woodworth Road, when it crashed shortly after the chase started, the Patrol said in a news release.

Investigators found that the Buick blew through a red light at the Woodworth-Hayden Avenue intersection, causing it to hit a Pontiac. The driver of the Pontiac was ejected from her car in the collision, the Patrol said.

The Patrol said the driver of the Pontiac suffered life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to University Hospital by EMS after the accident.

The Pontiac, after being hit, crashed into a nearby Chevrolet. There were six people inside the Chevrolet, four of whom are children. Luckily, no one in that vehicle was seriously hurt.

The suspect that was allegedly driving the stolen vehicle, Aramis Beckhamm, was also taken to University Hospital. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said her injuries were serious, but not life threatening.

All three vehicles in the collision suffered heavy damaged and were disabled, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Law enforcement officers from Cleveland Heights, East Cleveland, Cleveland and the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated the collision. Cleveland Fire was also on the scene. Traffic was routed around the scene of the accident on Monday night.
