Prom, Graduation Postponed For Heights High
Students at Heights High won't get to celebrate prom or commencement until later in the summer, the school district announced.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Graduation ceremonies for the Heights High class of 2020 will be postponed to June 23 and prom has been delayed to July 24, the Heights Schools announced. Both changes were made in the wake of Gov. Mike DeWine ordering K-12 schools to suspend face-to-face classes through the end of the school year.
Leaders for the Cleveland Heights-University Heights are still developing alternative ways to honor seniors. Creativity and panache are required since the state's stay-at-home order remains in place and social distancing requirements are still being followed.
The first of these creative gestures honoring Heights High's seniors played out Monday night. The Heights High football stadium lights were turned on at 8:20 p.m. for 20 minutes and 20 seconds.

"I know that a gesture like this cannot replace long-awaited senior year traditions, but we hope that it can show this group of outstanding young adults how proud Tiger Nation is of them,” said Superintendent Liz Kirby.
Additional announcements about changes to traditional end-of-year ceremonies are expected.
