Snow Storm Delays Cleveland Heights End Of Watch Event

A ceremony honoring Officer Thomas Patton will be rescheduled to another date, Cleveland Heights Police say.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH - The city's planned remembrance of fallen police officer Thomas Patton has been delayed due to the severity of the snowstorm hammering the region. The event does not yet have a reschedule date.

The ceremony remembering Patton, who died in 2010 after suffering a fatal heart attack while pursuing a suspect, was set to take place March 17 in front of the police memorial near Cleveland Heights City Hall. The Cleveland Heights Police Department says the event will be rescheduled, they just have not selected a new date for the End of Watch remembrance.

According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Patton was pursuing a suspect near Marc's in Cleveland Heights. The chase wound through backyards and woods. Near Glenmont and Mayfield roads, Patton took a brief breather and then tried to continue running. He collapsed shortly thereafter.
