SPOTLIGHT: Art of Cathie Bleck at Heights Arts

Opening reception is Friday, March 18, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Cleveland Heights artist Cathie Bleck has received international recognition for her singular works in scratchboard and kaolin clay board. Her stylized, organic forms—rooted in themes of evolution, transformation, and fragility—are carefully carved and scraped through multiple layers of inks and handmade pigments, revealing the white of the kaolin clay beneath. It is a process similar in concept to creating a multiple color woodblock print.

This new exhibition will reveal the captivating progression of Cathie’s technique in various media including scratchboard, clayboard, clay on papyrus, and limited edition prints.

Join Heights Arts at its 2175 Lee Road gallery for an opening reception and opportunity to meet the artist on Friday, March 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. Works will be on view in the spotlight gallery through Saturday, April 30.
