Super Bowl Winners, Execs, Scientists: CHUH Alumni To Be Honored

The Heights High School Foundation is inducting 10 people into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame in 2018.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Super Bowl winners, CEOs at major companies, judges, scientists...the Heights High School Distinguished Alumni Class of 2018 is full-up with famous faces and dazzling resumes. The new class of inductees will be publicly honored on May 4 during a ceremony that will be open to the public.

Among the all-star cast of inductees are a pair of nationally famous brothers, Jason and Travis Kelce. Both men are well-known starters in the NFL, with Jason having won a Super Bowl as a center with the Philadelphia Eagles and Travis making All-Pro teams with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Gail Rose Kane, Class of 1956 — A renowned lawyer that has argued cases before the Ohio Supreme Court, Kane was later appointed to the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court as a judge. She has been a lifelong supporter of the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Natural History Museum and the Council for Jewish Women.

Tracy W. Schermer, Class of 1967 — An award-winning advocate for people with physical and mental disabilities, Schermer is also director of the Health and Counseling Center and Kenyone College. He is a physician and a veteran, having served as an officer in Vietnam.

Lori Hermelin Bush, Class of 1974 — A trailblazer that broke through the gender gap in the field of STEM, Bush is recognized for her role in making Rodan + Fields a household name and billion dollar corporation. She has been recognized as one of the most influential women in the history of direct selling.

Tovah Klein, Class of 1982 — Known by some as the 'Toddler Whisperer', Klein is the director of the internationally known Barnard College Center for Toddler Development and is an Associate Professor of Psychology. She is a regular contributor to print and nationally syndicated television media outlets and is an advocate for public schools.

Milton 'Chip' Morris, Class of 1988 — The CEO and president of NeuSpera Medical, Morris is the inventor of some 30 patents in the area of implantable medical devices. He has helped improve and extend the lives of patients around the world. He is also an active volunteer and mentor for male youth.

Sean Sullivan, Class of 1988 — The Science and Engineer specialist of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District, Sullivan is also founder of the Heights United Soccer Academy and a championship winning soccer coach. He has dedicated his career to his community. He has won a bevy of awards including Person of the Year, Lake Erie League Coach of the Year and been named a Jennings Scholar for Outstanding Ohio Teacher. He is also founder of ACES, Athletes Choosing Excellence in School, a tutoring program for athletes to mentor younger students.

Christopher Young, Class of 1990 — The CEO of McAfee, a cyber security company known worldwide, Young was also appointed by President Barack Obama to the National Security and Telecommunications Advisory Committee. He then helped establish the nonprofit Cyber Threat Alliance. Young has been named one of the 100 most influential African Americans in corporate America and was, earlier in his career, recipient of the Black Engineer of the Year Award.

Jacques D. Evans, Class of 1999 — The founder and CEO of FLOH Spirits, LLC, Evans became a business owner when he graduated from Heights High. He has dedicated his marketing skills to FLOH Vodka and received world-renowned recognition for his efforts. He funds the Golden Opportunity Foundations, providing scholarships to youth entrepreneurs.
