Suspected University Heights Bank Robber Arrested In Cleveland
Anthony Jones allegedly robbed Citizens Bank on Warrensville Center Road on Thursday. He was arrested Saturday.

CLEVELAND β The man suspected of robbing Citizens Bank in University Heights on Thursday was arrested over the weekend by Cleveland Police. Anthony Jones, 59, may be connected to as many as five different bank robberies in the area.
Jones was taken into custody on Saturday, September 8, after he reportedly robbed the Woodforest Bank inside the Steelyard Commons Walmart, the FBI said. An off-duty sheriff's deputy saw the robbery and chased Jones.
The deputy caught Jones and Cleveland Police eventually took him into custody. Jones allegedly gave a fake name to police, but his identity was quickly discovered by investigators. Jones is believed to be responsible for five bank robberies and one attempted bank robbery, the FBI said. Federal charges will be announced against him soon.

On Thursday, Jones allegedly walked into the Citizens Bank on Warrensville Center Road, waited in line, and then told a teller he wanted to cash a check. He pulled out a piece of paper and slid it to the teller. It wasn't a check. It was a demand note, the FBI said.
The teller handed over cash and Jones took off running. He eluded law enforcement for just two days before he was captured.
