University Heights Teen Killed In Shooting In Cleveland

The 18-year-old was shot outside of a funeral home on Saturday morning.

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH — A University Heights teenager was shot to death outside of a viewing at a funeral home in Cleveland on Saturday morning. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the 18-year-old on Monday morning.

On Saturday, at 10 a.m., police were called to Watson's Funeral Home on Superior Avenue for reports of gunshots. When officers arrived, the 18-year-old was found in the parking lot. He had been shot multiple times.

Officers gave the teenager first aid until he was taken to University Hospitals. He underwent emergency surgery but was later pronounced dead, Cleveland police said.

On Monday, the medical examiner identified the 18-year-old as Martaevion Josiais Frisco, from University Heights.

Two other people were shot during the burst of gunfire outside the funeral home. Both wounded men were treated at University Hospitals.

Investigators believe all three men were at a viewing at the funeral home. When they left, they loitered in the parking lot. A group of nearby men then began shooting at them. The gunmen were seen running from the parking lot after the shooting.

No arrests have yet been made, a Cleveland police spokesperson said.
