Announced last week, the IRS tracking tool called βGet my paymentβ launched and will inform Americans when they can expect to receive their stimulus checks. The IRS began depositing the first Economic Impact Payments into taxpayersβ bank accounts on April 11. The IRS will begin issuing paper checks to individuals around the week of May 4 and it could take several weeks to get all the checks out. As previously mentioned, the current CARES Act has very little support for small and mid-sized municipalities. The Act did however, expand aid to Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) entitlement communities, and as an entitlement community we were notified that we will be receiving an additional $956,215 for 2020. These funds must be used according to HUD guidelines and staff is currently preparing a plan that will allow us to leverage these dollars for maximum flexibility and benefit in a way that is compliant with HUD rules. The required CAC public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21 (see below).
Other meetings that may be of interest to you are also being live-streamed.
