A quick reminder that tonight is our regularly scheduled City Council meeting.

Monday, April 20 at 7:30 pm, and it will be live-streamed at http://www.youtube.com/c/cityo.... The agenda can be found on the City’s website. At 7:00 pm the Council Committee of the Whole will also be broadcast on the same channel. Both meetings will be aired live on the City’s Television Channel, Spectrum 1020 beginning at 7:00 pm. If you have an issue you would like to bring up during the traditional public comment part of official Council meetings, please email it to Clevelandheightscouncil@clvhts.com. Comments received by 5pm on Monday, April 20 will be read into the record during the meeting.

The City received 22 Council applications to fill the vacant Council seat. You can find the applications posted on the Council Applicant Web page. Staff is working with the League of Women Voters on interview questions and also steps to facilitate taping the interviews also to be posted online.

Announced last week, the IRS tracking tool called “Get my payment” launched and will inform Americans when they can expect to receive their stimulus checks. The IRS began depositing the first Economic Impact Payments into taxpayers’ bank accounts on April 11. The IRS will begin issuing paper checks to individuals around the week of May 4 and it could take several weeks to get all the checks out. They will be issued in reverse “adjusted gross income order” starting with people with the lowest income first. The IRS stated this timeline is approximate.

As previously mentioned, the current CARES Act has very little support for small and mid-sized municipalities. The Act did however, expand aid to Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) entitlement communities, and as an entitlement community we were notified that we will be receiving an additional $956,215 for 2020. These funds must be used according to HUD guidelines and staff is currently preparing a plan that will allow us to leverage these dollars for maximum flexibility and benefit in a way that is compliant with HUD rules. The required CAC public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21 (see below).

Architectural Board of Review: 14 cases from the March 17 and April 7 cancelled meetings will be reviewed at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 21 in the first virtual ABR meeting. The townhouse-boarding house project of Dan Siegel and Dimit Architects across Euclid Heights Boulevard from the Top of the Hill is included.

Citizens Advisory Committee: Additionally, on April 21 at 7:30 pm a virtual CAC meeting is planned. Use of the supplemental $956,215 in CDBG-CV (Covid-19- related) funds will be discussed. Other communities’ proposed uses include meal delivery, emergency food pantries, rental and mortgage assistance, and small business assistance.
