Celebrate the Fashion of Beauty: "A Party with a Purpose"

MC Hair and Zelio NOTO partnered to host a fashion event to benefit ACCESS shelters.

In conjunction with New York Fashion Week and Fashion’s Night Out on Sept. 8, and Zelio NOTO hosted “Celebrate the Fashion of Beauty” at studio mc in Cuyahoga Falls.

Proceeds from the event benefitted ACCESS, a shelter for homeless women and children located at 230 W. Market St. in Akron.

“A lot of women can relate to our cause,” said Joy Trachsel, Volunteer/PR Coordinator for ACCESS.

MC Hair owner Marcy Cona called the event “a party with a purpose.” Guests had their photos taken on the red carpet when they arrived. Bumble & Bumble gave personalized consultations, and (including jewelry by ) were available for purchase. Along with appetizers, drinks, music and candy from Arnold’s Candies, each guest received a gift bag.

“The neat part is expanding awareness of ACCESS,” said Executive Director Lynn Budnick. “Oftentimes we don’t realize how many people are really touched by homelessness in our community. The numbers are growing by leaps and bounds.”

There are 35 families currently on the waiting list for a room at the shelter.

“Events like this help spread the awareness so people understand that maybe your neighbor or your neighbor’s friend or your neighbor’s sister may be going through some trouble,” Budnick added.

Zelio NOTO owner and graduate Lauren Ward said of the event, “ACCESS is an amazing cause, and I think it’s so great we’re giving back, because they do such a wonderful job of getting women back on their feet.”
