Frugal Family: Local Deals to Save You Time and Cash

Our mission is to seek out deals for frugal families each week. Valentine’s Day is next Monday, which suggests a theme might be in order.

On to this week’s deals:

• CardSmart/Loren's Floral, Cards and Gifts, 69 Graham Rd., 330-929-7324. CardSmart/Loren’s, located in the Imagine Plaza, was made for Valentine’s Day. The store is stocked with greeting cards, flowers, candy, gift baskets, candles and balloon bouquets. Everything in the store will be 60 percent off through Monday. 

• Sarah’s Vineyard, Winery and Art Gallery, 1204 W. Steels Corners Rd., 330-929-8057. Normally closed on Mondays, Sarah’s Vineyard will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for Valentine’s Day and will offer a special half-off Valentine’s Day menu. Featured seasonal wines include Brandywine Falls Blueberry and Blue Heron Blush.

 • Family Treasures Jewelers, 424 Portage Tr., 330-940-3331. Family Treasures specializes in fine jewelry, loose diamonds and custom work. Some repairs are made while you wait.  Closed Sunday and Monday. Family Treasures doesn’t typically run specials, but they pledge 10 percent to 30 percent lower prices than comparable jewels at other stores.

• , 800 Wye Rd., 330-666-3347. Celebrating 25 years in business, the Bake Shop in Ghent Valentine’s Day specials include a dozen heart-shaped cookies for $10 and a heart-shaped chocolate or yellow cake is $12. Open 6 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. Sunday. The Bake Shop is closed on Mondays, so plan ahead.    

• Art with Heart, 843 N. Cleveland-Massillon Rd. 330-666-5511. Art with Heart features original works, from traditional paintings to glassware, quilts and books. The shop is featuring Valentine’s Day jewelry and cards. A portion of all proceeds goes to Akron Children’s Hospital.  Closed Saturday and Sunday.
