• Suspect reportedly rams undercover police vehicles with stolen SUV at Kettering gas station (whio.com) — Dayton police helped Kettering officers recover a reportedly stolen SUV after an undercover operation at a BP station where the suspect allegedly rammed two unmarked vehicles. The man, identified as Angelo Locurto, was tased, arrested, and faces pending charges as investigators continue looking into the case, which began with a Dayton police alert about the vehicle. 
• Dayton man sentenced for kidnapping, jail assault (wdtn.com) — A Dayton man has been sentenced to 4–6 years in prison for kidnapping his young son and assaulting the child's mother, plus a concurrent 2–4 years for a separate jail assault. The April 2026 incident sparked a multijurisdictional chase into Kentucky, where he still faces additional charges related to allegedly hitting a deputy's cruiser.
• Chaminade Julienne looks to bounce back in 2026 (wdtn.com) — Chaminade Julienne's football team in Dayton is determined to rebound from last year's 1-9 season, leaning on a large senior class and Illinois State commit Elias Dangerfield. After months of weight-room work and team-building, they'll open on the road at Miamisburg on Friday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m.
