Truck driver indicted in I-71 crash that killed family pleads not guilty (nbc4i.com) ā A truck driver pleaded not guilty in Delaware to multiple vehicular homicide and assault charges stemming from a nine-vehicle crash on I-71 near the U.S. 36/State Route 37 interchange. The collision killed three members of one family and injured others, and the defendantās bond remains at $500,000. Pre-trial and trial dates are set for June in Delaware County court.

Water main project to begin on Elizabeth Street (delgazette.com) ā Expect water service interruptions and traffic disruptions on Elizabeth Street as Delawareās Public Utilities Department replaces an aging water main from April 27 to May 22. Crews will connect to mains on Central, Winter, and William, with 24-hour advance notices for shutdowns and full road and yard restoration afterward.

BV Board passes resolution opposing US 23/I-71 connector (delgazette.com) ā Buckeye Valleyās school board, meeting at the Delaware Area Career Center, has formally renewed its opposition to a proposed U.S. 23/I-71 connector, urging ODOT to instead upgrade the existing 23 corridor. Members cite school bus disruptions, property value concerns, and loss of prime farmland as key reasons for resisting the Morrow County route.

4. Lawyer asks for prison release because of alleged judge misconduct (abc6onyourside.com) ā A former Bucyrus attorney imprisoned for fraud is asking to be released early, arguing that a Delaware County judge and assistant prosecutor behaved improperly during his case. The judge, James Schuck, is already on voluntary leave amid a separate civil stalking allegation thatās under investigation by a special prosecutor. Stoneās filing claims late-night texts between the judge and prosecutor included derogatory comments about him and his lawyers.
