Council also advanced budget changes, a tax budget, and a partnership with the Community Improvement Corporation, while tabling a proposed facade loan program for more review. Upcoming committee and council meeting dates were set. 
2. Appeal denied in East Liverpool murder case (wkbn.com) — An appeals court has upheld a life-without-parole sentence in a deadly 2021 shooting on Pennsylvania Avenue in East Liverpool, closing one chapter in a long-running murder case. Several co-defendants have already pleaded guilty, and another suspect still faces trial later this year. The ruling confirms the original Columbiana County jury’s verdict and sentence.
3. Salem council approves new contract with police union (salemnews.net) — Salem City Council approved a new three-year contract for its police union and accepted major grants, including one that will be pursued jointly with East Liverpool, Columbiana, and Columbiana County for housing improvements.
