Appeal denied in East Liverpool murder case (wkbn.com) — An appeals court has upheld a life-without-parole sentence in a deadly 2021 shooting on Pennsylvania Avenue in East Liverpool, closing one chapter in a long-running murder case. Several co-defendants have already pleaded guilty, and another suspect still faces trial later this year. The ruling confirms the original Columbiana County jury’s verdict and sentence.

3. Salem council approves new contract with police union (salemnews.net) — Salem City Council approved a new three-year contract for its police union and accepted major grants, including one that will be pursued jointly with East Liverpool, Columbiana, and Columbiana County for housing improvements. That CHIP grant partnership could eventually channel more state housing funds into the East Liverpool area. Council also advanced plans to expand Lincoln Plaza and set its next meeting for July 21.
