📰 News we're reading

• ‘Oh deer!': Fawn escorted from Dollar General after trespassing call in Euclid (cleveland19.com) — Euclid police had an unusual call this week when officers gently escorted a lone fawn out of a Dollar General after a trespassing complaint. Wildlife officials say it’s actually normal for fawns to be left alone in urban yards and near homes, and they urge residents not to intervene unless the animal is clearly injured or in danger.

• Man pleasures himself in apartment lobby: Mayfield Heights Police Blotter (cleveland.com) — Mayfield Heights police recently handled a string of incidents, including a traffic stop where a 20-year-old woman from South Euclid was charged after refusing to cooperate with officers in a Giant Eagle parking lot. Other calls involved shoplifting at Golden Gate Plaza, an indecent exposure case in an apartment lobby, and several theft and disorderly conduct reports along Mayfield Road.

• Brooklyn Heights police K-9 to be funded through donation honoring fallen Euclid Officer Jacob Derbin (news5cleveland.com) — Euclid residents may remember Officer Jacob Derbin, who was killed in 2024; his mother is now honoring him by fully funding the first-ever K-9 for nearby Brooklyn Heights police. The donation, timed to his birthday, will cover the dog itself, while the department continues fundraising for training, equipment, and a specially outfitted cruiser.
