• Germantown Police catch accused Speedway robbery suspect (whio.com) — Germantown residents may notice increased police activity after officers quickly arrested a suspect in an early-morning robbery at the Speedway on Dayton Germantown Pike. Working with county agencies, Germantown Police tracked the 29-year-old Dayton man to a Middletown trailer park and booked him into the Montgomery County Jail on a robbery charge within 12 hours.
   

• Miami Valley Birding Challenge runs through Nov. 15 at Five Rivers MetroParks sites (dayton247now.com) — Germantown residents can join Five Rivers MetroParks’ Birding Challenge, which runs through November 15 and includes beginner-friendly activities at Germantown MetroPark’s Window on Wildlife. With about 20 tasks, from bringing a friend birding to improving backyard habitat, participants who complete at least 10 can earn a keychain and enter a raffle for birding gear.
   

• Fall camping and hiking: Explore Five Rivers MetroParks this season (dayton247now.com) — Germantown-area outdoor lovers have prime fall options at Germantown MetroPark and nearby Twin Creek MetroPark, which together form the 29-mile Twin Valley Trail. With front-country and backcountry campsites, rental gear, and varied habitats from prairies to wooded hills, Five Rivers MetroParks encourages beginners to start small and try an overnight close to home.
