Kent Girls' Soccer Team Overwhelms Streetsboro

13-1 win gives players a chance to see field from different positions

When the opposing team is facing a double-digit deficit, it's a good time for the team with the lead to shake things up.

girls' soccer coach Leslie Neice asked several players to try different positions during Tuesday night's lopsided victory over Streetsboro. Among those were sophomore goalkeeper Jen Doershuk, who scored on the Rockets in the second half.

She wasn't the only defensive player to score in the game, as junior defender Libby Bradford added two goals to the night's total, a baker's dozen.

The Rockets' only goal came early in the first half, and for a short time it was a 6-1 game. However, by the end of the first half the Riders added three to the visitors' side of the scoreboard. The sun set quickly on Streetsboro's hopes and the second half of the game, with the Riders adding four more goals before getting on the bus to return to Kent.

. Last year, Kent shared the PTC Metro title with Norton. The two meet in Kent on Sept. 20.

The next contest for the Rough Rider girls is Saturday, when they face the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers at Stanton Stadium in Kent. The junior varsity game starts at 1 p.m. and the varsity match begins at 3 p.m.
