As the growing season winds down, GardenWalk Lakewood invites gardeners of all experience levels to its October Plant Swap from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 10, under the pavilion at Kauffman Park, 15450 Detroit Ave. Fall is an ideal time to divide and transplant many perennials, making this free community event a perfect opportunity to share garden extras and gently used gardening items, discover something new, and connect with fellow plant lovers.
Participants bringing donations are encouraged to arrive between 11 and 11:30 a.m. so volunteers have time to organize and display the items.
What to Bring
- Labeled plant divisions and rooted cuttings
- Bulbs and seeds
- Houseplants, native plants, and herbs
- Pots, boxes, or bags to contain donations
- Clean, gently used gardening items, such as hand tools, planters, and other useful garden supplies

Please bring healthy, pest-free plants and avoid donating invasive species.
Once the swap is underway, browse the available plants and gently used gardening items, chat with fellow gardeners, and take home new additions for your garden. There is no limit to the number of plants or gardening items you may donate or take.
Don’t have anything to swap? No problem. You’re still welcome to join us, meet fellow gardeners, and gather ideas for next season. After all, many great gardening adventures begin with the words, “I wasn’t planning to bring anything home today…”
The swap will be held under the pavilion at Kauffman Park, so join us rain or shine and leave a little room in the car for whatever follows you home.
