Cove Park Construction Should Be Finished This Fall

The $600,000 rehabilitation project will continue through the spring and summer.

LAKEWOOD, OH — The city's $600,000 rehabilitation of Cove Park is getting closer to completion. The three-acre site has been under construction since January 2018 and work should be finished by this fall, the city said in an email to Patch.

What's being done at the park? A lot, actually.

The city is installing a walking path around the park that will connect visitors to all of the new and old amenities. There will also be a new playground and swing set, a new picnic shelter and central plaza at the center of the park, a new t-ball backstop with permanent dugouts, a re-aligned and bigger soccer field, and improved parking lot access.

"Outdated play equipment has been removed, new perimeter fencing installed and ground preparation for the plaza, parking lot and paths are well underway," Michelle Nochta, a Lakewood city planner, told Patch.

The community gardens and old tree growth at Cove Park will be preserved, Nochta indicated.

The improvements at Cove Park are being guided by community input gathered at various public meetings and a Community Vision document. The city wants to enrich visitors' experiences at the three-acre site.
