Lakewood City Council To Pick Meghan George's Council Replacement
Meghan George vacated her at-large council position when she became mayor. This week, council decided how it would replace her.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Lakewood City Council announced the process it would use to replace Meghan George, who vacated her at-large seat to become mayor. The replacement councilperson will be sworn-in on Feb. 18.
City council began accepting applications for George's seat in December. To be considered, applicants must be residents of Lakewood, and registered voters in Lakewood, for at least one year prior to their appointment.
After the application deadline closes on Jan. 23, the timeline for city council's selection process looks like this:

- Jan. 27 — Initial review of applications
- Feb. 1 — Candidate interviews
- Feb. 3 — Candidate interviews
- Feb. 10 — Deliberation
- Feb. 18 — Appointment
George officially vacated her seat on Jan. 1, when she was sworn-in as mayor. City council announced they were seeking applicants for George's seat on Dec. 4.

At least one prominent resident has declared interest in George's at-large position. Lakewood's former finance director Jennifer Pae resigned in November and then announced she intended to pursue George's vacant seat.
