• County health department says have fun outdoors, but be aware of ticks (lancastereaglegazette.com) — Lancaster residents are being urged by Fairfield County health officials to enjoy the outdoors but carefully check for ticks that can spread Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Commissioner Joe Ebel says cases remain above 50 this year, with peak risk from April through November, and stresses early symptom awareness and prompt medical care to avoid long-term joint pain and other complications.
   

• Legionnaires' disease cases reported at local nursing center (lancastereaglegazette.com) — Lancaster-area health officials report eight recent cases of Legionnaires’ disease linked to Country Lane Gardens Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, though no deaths have been reported and risk to the general public is considered low. The facility has installed special water filters, is testing its water system, and is working with county and state health departments to prevent additional illnesses and locate the source.
   

• From Lancaster to Zanesville, Kline continues a student-first mission (zanesvilletimesrecorder.com) — Ohio University’s Lancaster campus is saying goodbye to interim dean Dr. Martha Kline, who helped drive new health-care education spaces, campus upgrades, and stronger community partnerships. As she moves to lead the Zanesville campus, her work in Lancaster is expected to support new nursing and respiratory therapy programs projected to launch in 2027, expanding career-focused options for local students.
