• CCESC secures grant for Salem kindergarten camp (reviewonline.com) — From its Lisbon headquarters, the Columbiana County ESC has landed a $111,000 state grant to run Salem’s four-week Kindergarten Boot Camp this summer, covering staffing and supplies. ESC leaders also outlined changes to behavior units, ongoing accreditation efforts, and upcoming personnel decisions that shape services for area schools.
   

• East Liverpool man pleads guilty to 2025 shooting death (morningjournalnews.com) — A Columbiana County judge in Lisbon accepted a guilty plea from East Liverpool resident Daniel C. Whitley for the 2025 shooting death of James E. Powell, avoiding a jury trial. Whitley now faces a potential life sentence, with prosecutors recommending parole eligibility only after at least 18 years, and he will be designated a violent offender requiring post-release registration.
