Mansfield seeks a donated tree for Christmas tradition (kentucky.com) — Mansfield is asking residents and property owners to donate a roughly 30-foot evergreen to serve as this year’s community Christmas tree downtown. If you have a suitable tree with truck access, the city will remove it, grind the stump, and reseed the area; call Mansfield Public Works by Nov. 20 to be considered.
   

2. Mansfield City Council considers proposal to ban camping in downtown public spaces (news5cleveland.com) — Mansfield City Council is weighing an ordinance that would ban camping and temporary camps in downtown public spaces, raising big questions about where unhoused residents can safely go. With only one local shelter serving about 60 people and housing options limited, council members and business owners are debating how to balance safety, public health, and compassion before a final vote on Nov. 17.
   

3. Spelling bee winners announced (morrowcountysentinel.com) — Local students from Richland and neighboring counties just wrapped up a spirited Mid-Ohio ESC spelling bee series based in Mansfield, with champions named from Galion, Centerburg, and Shelby. Richland County’s top spellers will now advance to the Mid-Ohio ESC Spelling Bee on Nov. 10, giving Mansfield-area families another chance to cheer on their young wordsmiths.
   

4. Soccer Preview: Springfield and Mansfield Senior Both Bring Winning Streaks into This One (maxpreps.com) — Mansfield Senior’s boys soccer team heads into Saturday’s tournament matchup against Springfield riding a three-game winning streak and fresh off a 4-1 win over Ontario. With an 11-4-2 record and several multi-goal victories this season, the Tygers give Mansfield fans plenty of reason to watch how they fare against a hot Springfield squad.
   

5. Northern saw-whet owl rehabbing at Ohio Bird Sanctuary (kentucky.com) — A Mansfield resident recently found an injured northern saw-whet owl in their yard and brought it to the Ohio Bird Sanctuary hospital for care. Staff say the tiny 75-gram owl, a species of special interest in Ohio, appears to have head trauma and is now being treated at the sanctuary on Orweiler Road, where experts hope it can recover and continue its migration.
