Here are the three top stories today in Marietta:

  1. As a reminder, kindergarten registration for Fort Frye Local School District is scheduled for Feb. 13-17. This includes Beverly-Center Elementary, Lowell Elementary, and Salem-Liberty Elementary. To register, parents/guardians can visit the central registrar's office located at Beverly-Center Elementary that week between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Thursday, and Friday or between 12-7 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Children must be 5 years of age by Aug. 1, 2023. (Marietta Times)
  2. Parkersburg Area Community Foundation & Regional Affiliates (PACF) held its annual meeting, celebrating 60 years of service to the Mid-Ohio Valley with a special strategic planning program to help guide the board for the next three years. Emeritus board member James "Jim" Crews, a key leader in the growth of the PACF for decades, was honored for his service and assistance to the staff by naming the PACF administrative wing of its office in his honor. A sketch of Crews was hung on the wall in that wing of its building. (WV News)
  3. Marietta City Schools held its second public input strategic planning session Thursday night in the cafeteria at Marietta Elementary. Parents, students, and community members were asked to write down what they thought were the strengths and weaknesses of the school system. "First step is gathering data and hearing from people," said Brad Silvus, superintendent of Marietta City Schools. (Marietta Times)
