Marietta's Boley Enterprises Building Comes Down
After more than 150 years, this long-standing structure is no more.

MARIETTA, OH — The day after Christmas, David Boley, and the City of Marietta lost something special. A fire broke out at a building that had sat at the corner of 3rd and Scammel Streets for more than 150 years.

"We've been here 33 years. The building has been here since 1866, as a schoolhouse. It was actually added onto as a school in 1896."
He said he had fond memories of running the building as a garage for 33-years.

"We're in the process of demolition now."
He said they plan on completely rebuilding within the next year.
"We want another garage in the same location."
He said this is an opportunity to have a more updated facility.
"All the upgrades of codes and fire and sprinkler systems."
He said the building had been upgraded through the years.
"It's just one of those things. It [the fire] was electrical, they actually think it was maybe a refrigerator. It was upstairs, we didn't have any kind of security or fire alarms upstairs, we didn't think there was a need to, but things happen."
Boley said in this situation, sadly, he doesn't think there is a silver lining.
"We just have to start over."
