Marietta fun fact of the day:

During the 1920s and 1930s Marietta came to pride itself on being a small town. Tourism became big business while much of the town rejected industrialization fearing this could lead to outside capitalists controlling the town.

3. The Ely-Chapman summer camp has started. It was canceled last year, yesterday was their first day back. (WTAP)

4. Marietta's summer riverboat schedule has been changed. The American Queen has canceled both Marietta stops. The American Dutchess and Queen of the Mississippi haven't canceled. (WMOA)

5. Nearly 200,000 J&J COVID-19 vaccines are set to expire in Ohio this month. Governor DeWine says the shot is safe and you should get it now. (Statehouse News Bureau)


Marietta Community Calendar:

- On Tuesday, June 8 there will be a Music by the River event in Belpre. It will be held at Belpre Civitan Park. Details here.

-On Wednesday, June 9 the Valley Gem will be taking folks to the historic Blennerhasset Island. Details here.

-The Marietta Welfare League will be hosting Music in the Park. It's a free event that kicks off at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10. Details here.

-Cleanup Days will be held on Friday, June 11, and Saturday, June 12. This is an event paid for with taxpayer funds for any city resident looking to clear trash or junk out of their place. Details here.
