Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:
- Ohio Environmental Protection Agency director Anne Vogel along with other EPA representatives are set to tour various water stations in Washington County. This comes as an effort to bring safer drinking water to all residents of Washington County and give the EPA a better understanding of the county's specific needs. The representatives will also be taken by the Washington County Commissioners to the area of the Devola Sewer Project to record any progress made there. (WTAP)
- Permanent bathrooms at the Oak Grove Recreation Center over in nearby Muskingum Township are getting ready to officially open. The upgrade that originally replaced a portable bathroom was made possible by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, which offered a $33,000 Nature Works grant. The new structure will feature a commode, sink, and hand dryer for guests to use at their leisure. (Marietta Times)
- Ohio State University will be partnering with the Ohio Department of Agriculture to give out seeds again this year to encourage residents to grow more fruits and vegetables. Each of the seeds will come in a sealed envelope that includes cucumber, lettuce, sunflower, and carrot seeds. The OSU Extension Office in Washington County is just one of the many locations participating in the seed program again. (WTAP)
