🌱 O’Neill Senior Center Gives Elderly Meals + Min Wage Increase

  1. The O'Neill Senior Center is providing the elderly residents it serves some Christmas cheer this season. The Center will be giving meal boxes to the seniors in the Washington County area. The group is planning to deliver roughly 150 meals to individuals requesting them. (WTAP)
  2. With the new year, there will come an increased minimum wage in the state of Ohio.
    Ohio's minimum wage is scheduled to increase on Jan. 1, 2022, to $9.30 per hour for non-tipped employees and $4.65 per hour for tipped employees. The current 2021 Ohio Minimum Wage is $8.80 per hour for non-tipped employees and $4.40 per hour for tipped employees. (WTAP)
  3. Attracting college students should remain a priority for local and state leaders. One proposal by state Rep. Jon Cross aims to do that with state income tax exemptions, tax breaks on paid college internships, merit-based scholarships for out-of-state students and more money funneled into the college grant fund for students with associate's degrees pursuing a bachelor's degree.
