News 25 Sept 2026 (washingtoncountysheriff.org) — Recent Washington County sheriff reports include a summons request through Marietta Municipal Court after an alleged road confrontation with juveniles, and a citation for a Marietta resident accused of driving under suspension on Pike Street. Deputies also handled suspected drug possession, a high-BAC OVI after the Sternwheel Festival, a child endangerment case, and a theft warrant issued through Marietta Municipal Court.
   

2. Annual Roy Trembly Fall Food Drive supports Gospel Mission of Marietta (wtap.com) — Marietta residents turned out at the Pike Street Walmart today for the annual Roy Trembly Fall Food Drive, collecting food and cash for the Gospel Mission of Marietta. Organizers and local veterans' groups say the long-running effort helps anyone in need, with no residency restrictions, and continues Trembly's legacy of service to vulnerable neighbors.
   

3. Commissioner Greg Nohe signs petition for moratorium on injection wells (newsandsentinel.com) — At a Marietta meeting, Washington County commissioners confirmed Greg Nohe's support for a moratorium petition on new Class II injection wells while approving a series of budget appropriations and contracts. The session also finalized a reimbursement deal between the Child Support office and prosecutor, and updated a road-use agreement with AEP that affects local infrastructure repairs.
   

4. John Edward McClure (mariettatimes.com) — Family and friends in Marietta are invited to remember Dr. John Edward McClure at a visitation on October 3 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Fourth Street. The longtime educator and researcher, a Marietta High and Marietta College graduate, built a distinguished career in West Virginia while preserving Washington County genealogy and staying closely connected to his hometown roots.
   

5. Obituary: Owens, Earl Wayne II (wtap.com) — Marietta friends and neighbors are invited to honor Earl Wayne Owens II at services Tuesday, September 29, at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Homes, followed by burial in Barlow Central Cemetery. The Warren High graduate, Army veteran, and active member of Marietta's American Legion and Masonic lodge is remembered for his devotion to family, service, and community.
