Traffic In Washington County This Weekend

There are going to be some road projects affecting traffic in Washington County this weekend.

MARIETTA, OH — For those looking to take advantage of this beautiful weekend and cruise around Washington County, there are some things you should know. There is a bridge out and a few roads that are down to one lane. If you're planning on sticking to Marietta City, you should have no issues.

County Engineer Roger Wright said there is still the bridge replacement project in the Reno area on County Road 20 to keep in mind. This is by the intersection of County Road 20 and County Road 9. "Most people going out on County Road 9 will then turn right onto County Road 20. On County Road 20, 658 is the bridge number." This is about 1 3/4 miles from State Route 7. "That bridge is going to be out for a long-term closure." He said that the bridge will likely be out until September or October.

He said that's the major one to contend with. "Other than that there are landslips scattered throughout the county." A few roads are down to one lane, but they have traffic signals on them. "There's one on County Road 60, Lowell Hill Road. There's one on County Road 111, Welch Road. And the third one is on County Road 15 Germantown Road."

Wright said this is basically all the planned traffic interruptions in the county this weekend but warned drivers not to get too complacent. "It's going to be a large construction season, there are going to be other things." He explained that road closures really boil down to three things, landslip repair, bridge repair, or large construction project. He said we're going to see more of those soon. "Once the schools close it really gets busy."

The City of Marietta's Engineering Department said they aren't doing any work over the weekend. So traffic should be breezy here in town.
