• Toledo Humane Society rescues dozens of dogs from deplorable conditions (wtol.com) — In Maumee, the Toledo Humane Society is treating 39 dogs rescued from a home where they were found matted, flea-infested and dehydrated after a May cruelty investigation. Staff say the animals are already improving with medical care, grooming and behavioral support, and are showing remarkable resilience as they adjust to safer surroundings. 
• NCCOS Expands HAB Monitoring to the Northeast and Great Lakes (ecomagazine.com) — Maumee-area residents should know that federal scientists have added Maumee Bay to a new high‑resolution satellite monitoring program that tracks harmful algal blooms in the Great Lakes. Using sharper imagery than before, the system helps health and environmental agencies spot problem blooms earlier, better protecting local water, recreation, and nearby coastal economies. The updated maps are already available on the NCCOS HAB Monitoring website.
