Medina County approves gas contract, $400,000 for fairgrounds building (yourohionews.com) — Medina County commissioners have locked in a new natural gas aggregation contract projected to save participating households about $110 through April 2029 and committed $400,000 toward a new Medina County Fairgrounds building. They also eased affidavit rules for homeowners, recognized National Recovery Month, advanced several road and utility projects, and approved a Lake Road closure for culvert work that local drivers will notice. 
2. Torres steps into his role at Medina's National Guard Armory (cleveland.com) — Medina’s Army National Guard Armory has welcomed Staff Sergeant Mikel Torres, an experienced Ohio National Guard veteran now serving as an education and career development officer for local schools, companies, and youth groups. With strong Northeast Ohio roots and training in multiple trades and healthcare specialties, he has already been active in community support. Residents and organizations can reach him directly at the Lafayette Road armory for Guard-related opportunities.
3. Medina County sports history highlighted as part of America 250 events (medina-gazette.com) — A new free exhibit at the Medina Recreation Center is showcasing more than a century of Medina and Medina County sports history throughout September, right alongside the county Sports Hall of Fame. You can browse historic Medina High School yearbooks, learn how the Battling Bees colors and mascot evolved, and see memorabilia from schools across the county daily during regular rec center hours with photo ID required for nonmembers.
4. ODOT plans Ohio 252 project in Medina County (cleveland.com) — Drivers in Medina County should expect a two‑month closure of Ohio 252 (Columbia Road) near Neff Road when ODOT begins a roadway embankment stabilization project in May 2028. The work will add a plug pile wall, require small right‑of‑way acquisitions, and detour traffic via Ohio 57 and Ohio 303. Emergency and public services will coordinate with ODOT, and residents can submit comments to the project’s environmental specialist.
5. 22 Years of Caring Celebrated by Free Clinic of Medina County (medina-gazette.com) — Medina’s mayor and community supporters recently helped raise funds for the Free Clinic of Medina County, which provides no-cost medical care to people who live or work in the county. The lively Buffalo Creek Retreat event featured auctions, games, and donated prizes, all supporting the clinic’s operating expenses. Residents needing free medical services can still contact the clinic by phone or online.
