• High school volleyball: Eight area teams in first OHSVCA poll of the season (news-herald.com) — Mentor's volleyball team, last year's state runner-up, received votes in the first statewide coaches poll, landing in the also-receiving-votes group. The Cardinals' only setbacks so far are two tight five-set losses, including a win over top-ranked Magnificat. Several nearby programs, including Riverside and Lake Catholic, are also ranked or receiving votes, setting up a competitive local schedule.
