1. Mentor football: 2026 season preview (news-herald.com) — Mentor football fans get a full look at the Cardinals' 2026 season, including every home and away date at Jerome T. Osborne Sr. Stadium and beyond. With a young roster, standout returners like QB Brogan Jones and WR Logan Berwald, and only four defensive starters back, the team's success may hinge on how quickly a new offensive line gels. 
2. Mentor Schools talks more on consolidation, grade re-configuration (news-herald.com) — Mentor families are being warned that school consolidations and grade reconfigurations are coming, regardless of whether November's smaller operating levy passes. District leaders outlined options to cut another $3.3 million, including shifting which grades share buildings, changing start times and transportation, and seeking student input, with a more concrete plan expected in September.
3. Update on wrong-way crash on Route 2 that killed Mentor man and injured Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper (news5cleveland.com) — State troopers have released more details about the Route 2 wrong-way crash in Painesville Township that killed a 61-year-old Mentor man and seriously injured an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper. Investigators say the driver entered from Route 306 going the wrong way, and believe the trooper's unfortunate timing may have prevented an even larger tragedy.
4. Demolition Bids for U.C. Mill Being Accepted (mycountylink.com) — Darke County commissioners approved sending two sheriff's deputies to an Active Shooter Symposium in Mentor this October, along with several other training trips around the state. They also advanced plans to demolish a vacant Union City mill, set 2027 animal shelter license fees, and handled routine financial and ditch maintenance business.
