• Middletown house catches fire after car crashes into it overnight (wlwt.com) — Residents near Roosevelt Boulevard in Middletown were jolted overnight when a minivan crashed into a house, ruptured a gas line and sparked a fire that destroyed the home. Everyone inside escaped, one passenger suffered minor injuries, and neighbors were briefly evacuated as firefighters and Duke Energy crews worked for hours to shut off gas and secure damaged utility lines.
   

• Layoffs ahead as Middletown packing plant to close (wdtn.com) — A Middletown packaging plant will permanently close by year’s end, costing 91 local workers their jobs as operations shift to larger facilities elsewhere in Ohio. Most employees are expected to finish work on Dec. 1, with only a few staying on briefly as the company vacates the site.
