EHFAR announces first annual Chalk It Up to Summer event in New Lexington (perrytribune.com) — Main Street in New Lexington will close to traffic on May 29 for a free, family-friendly “Chalk It Up to Summer” celebration, turning the sidewalks from the courthouse to NAPA into a giant chalk art canvas. Perry County families can claim decorating spots, enjoy kids’ meal deals, live music, Kona Ice, ice cream, and games, while local groups set up free activity tables to connect with youth.

Community Foundation for Perry County accepting 2026 grant applications (crescent-news.com) — New Lexington’s Community Foundation for Perry County is now taking 2026 grant applications from local nonprofits, schools, and public organizations for projects that benefit Perry County residents. Groups can request $500 to $5,000 (or more for high-impact ideas) across arts, education, health, environment, and community development, with online applications due by Tuesday, June 9.

Performing arts a priority for New Lex teacher (perrytribune.com) — New Lexington Middle School teacher Lexi Foreman is energizing local performing arts, directing packed-cast productions of “Stuart Little” and “Willy Wonka” for New Lexington schools. Her work has grown the drama program, brought shows to every school in the district, and extended into a countywide theater association that aims to use the renovated Tecumseh Theater in Shawnee.
