18th Annual An Evening in the Village

Family Christmas tree lighting, choirs, and more in Historic Downtown Hartville

Bring your friends and family to stroll downtown’s luminary lined streets for a time of togetherness and holiday cheer. The 18th Annual An Evening in the Village will be held Sunday, December 6th from 4:30-7pm in Historic Downtown Hartville.

Santa arrives by fire truck at 4:45 with the winner of Lake Township Chamber of Commerce’s annual giveaway. Kids can visit with Santa at Briana’s Elite Dance Institute during the event. Passion Church will also be hosting a bake sale, face painting, and kids’ crafts at the dance studio.

The Christmas Tree will be lit at 5:00 by the Schrader Family, in memory of Larry Schrader. Also in the square, An Affordable DJ will provide sound for choirs from Hartville Church of the Brethren, Hartville Mennonite Church, Harvestime Apostolic Temple, The Church Upon the Rock, and Lake High School Reflections.

At Village Hall, Lake High School National Honors Society will be holding a bake sale and visitors can bid on trees and gift baskets donated by area businesses. Entries for the annual cookie contest can also be turned in at Village Hall. Drop off a dozen cookies with your name and recipe between 4:30 and 5:30pm. Adult and children category winners will be announced at approximately 6:30pm following the tree/basket auction.

The evening includes a live nativity, kids train rides, wagon rides, and Lake Friends of the Library will be reading stories and distributing free books in the train car. Downtown stores will be open for Christmas shopping and hosting refreshments, sales, live music, and special guests. Collection boxes for An Affordable Christmas and Lake Township FISH food pantry will be set up for visitors to donate new toys and non-perishable food items.
