Utica Conference, Shale Shoot Championship Set for Nov. 5 in Carroll County
Conference and buffet meal reception to feature seven speakers discussing local facilities, state of Utica Shale Play and other highlights

Representatives from energy organizations, the business community and government will provide updates on key regional facilities, the Utica Shale Play and the impact of oil and gas in Ohio at the inaugural Shale Shoot Sporting Clays Championship & Utica Conference, an all-day event set for Thursday, Nov. 5 in Carroll County.
The day will begin with the Shale Shoot Sporting Clays Championship. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. at Atwood Lake Resort in Sherrodsville. A cookout lunch for all participants will begin at 11 a.m. at Upland Valley Sporting Clays in Carrollton, followed by the Shale Shoot at 12 noon. The Top Shooter Prize for the event is a Colt XSE Combat Elite .45 pistol, while the Raffle Prize is a Henry Big Boy engraved American Oil .44 Mag. All shooters receive one ticket for the raffle as part of their registration fee.

The afternoon activities will take place at Atwood Lake Resort and will consist of the Utica Conference and a reception with a full buffet meal. Afternoon registration is at 2:30, and the conference will run from 3 to 5 p.m. The reception and meal will follow at 5:30 p.m.

- Chris Terajewicz of Advance Power, who is project director for the Carroll County Energy plant, providing an update on progress of the project;
- Griffin Goetz, director of institutional sales for the South Central Region for Ullico Retirement Solutions, who will discuss investing labor’s capitol;
- Mike Jacoby, director of shale energy for the Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth, giving an update on the cracker facility in Belmont County;
- Mike Chadsey, director of public relations for the Ohio Oil & Gas Association, providing an update on the Utica Shale Play; and
- Susan King of AECOM and Energy Transfer, who will discuss the Rover Pipeline.
Speakers at the reception will include:
- David Baker, president and executive director of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, who will give the latest updates on the progress of the Hall of Fame Village project; and
- Lou Gentile, state senator from Ohio Dist. 30, who will discuss legislative updates and the impact of oil and gas in the state.
There are multiple registration options available.
- Registration for the entire day, including the Shale Shoot, Utica Conference, and Reception/Buffet Meal, is $150 through Oct. 31 (increases to $200 on Nov. 1).
- Sportsmen who want to register for the Shale Shoot only can do so for $100 through Oct. 31 (increases to $150 on Nov. 1)
- Registration for the Utica Conference and Reception only is $75 through Oct. 31, or $100 beginning on Nov. 1.
