Zy'avier Jackson found guilty in murder of Wyll Sheffey (news-herald.com) — Jurors have found Ashtabula Township resident Zy’avier Jackson guilty on numerous charges connected to the shooting death of Wyllyam Sheffey Jr. in Painesville, along with assaults and kidnappings involving additional victims. Several others have already been convicted, and Jackson is scheduled for sentencing in Lake County Common Pleas Court on August 27.

Auburn Career Center, Lake Erie College receive state funds for new programs (news-herald.com) — A jury has found 23-year-old Zy’avier Jackson guilty on multiple murder, assault, firearm, and kidnapping charges tied to the shooting death of Wyllyam Sheffey Jr. in Painesville. Several co-defendants have also been convicted, and Jackson now faces sentencing in Lake County Common Pleas Court in late August.
3. Sentencing for man guilty of killing security guard outside Painesville restaurant (cleveland19.com) — A man has been sentenced to 17 to 22½ years in prison for fatally shooting a security guard outside Johnny Gringo Restaurant on Chester Street in Painesville last November. Friends and fellow business owners are remembering victim Bo Martin for his generosity and community spirit, as a small memorial remains outside the restaurant where the shooting occurred.
4. Painesville couple: Living in historic Mentor Avenue house a ‘stewardship' (news-herald.com) — A nearly 200-year-old house on Mentor Avenue in Painesville, once considered for demolition, is now lovingly restored as James and Melanie Peck’s home in the city’s historic district. The couple has invested heavily in repairs, wildlife habitat certifications, and historical recognition, seeing their role as stewards of a unique piece of Painesville history.
