You can grab a replica Big Boy Burger, explore the museum, and get a prime viewing spot if you sign up to volunteer. The locomotive’s route also passes through Mentor and Painesville along Route 84.

2. Trial underway for 1 of 4 suspects charged in murder of Ashtabula man (cleveland19.com) — A jury in Lake County has begun hearing the case against one of four people charged in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man in downtown Painesville last summer. The trial, related charges for three other defendants, and an upcoming sentencing keep this high-profile case closely tied to the Painesville community.

3. Bright green fireball meteor streaks over Northeast Ohio, Great Lakes region (cleveland.com) — Painesville residents were among hundreds across Northeast Ohio who spotted a vivid blue‑green fireball streaking across the sky late Monday night. The meteor, visible around 10:42 p.m., was reported from many Great Lakes communities, and early data suggests it crossed northern Ohio toward Michigan, though no sonic booms or meteorite finds have been confirmed yet.

4. Here's what Northeast Ohio is getting from Ohio's $3.7 billion construction budget (cleveland.com) — Ohio’s new $3.7 billion construction budget steers significant money to Lake County, including major upgrades at UH TriPoint Medical Center in Painesville and iSTEM in Painesville Township. Local residents could see improved cancer and breast care services, plus expanded STEM education facilities.
