• Mother and son sentenced in Fox Run shooting death (gazettenews.com) — Painesville-based courts have sentenced a mother and her teenage son for their roles in a 2025 shooting death at The Hamlets at Willoughby, with the son receiving 21 years to life. Several other defendants from the complex and nearby communities remain in custody or under community control as their Lake County cases continue through plea deals and upcoming trials. 
• Ducklings in distress rescued from Painesville storm sewer drain (cleveland19.com) — Painesville police officers climbed into a storm sewer to rescue a brood of ducklings that had fallen through a drain, then reunited them safely with their anxious mother. The department praised Officers Taylor Prugel and Noah Riha for the quick, compassionate response, noting it’s Prugel’s second successful bird-related call in a month.
