📰 News we're reading

• Painesville adopts new policy for mailboxes hit by plows (news-herald.com) — Painesville has adopted a formal policy on when it will replace mailboxes damaged by city snowplows, and what kind of standard replacements residents can expect. If you believe a city plow directly hit your box, you'll need to call Public Works promptly for an inspection, after which the city may install either a wood-and-plastic setup or a vinyl sleeve option.

• Lake Geauga Fund awards $325,000 to seven organizations (cleveland.com) — A new round of Lake Geauga Fund grants includes money to plan ecological restoration and trail development on 108 acres in Painesville Township, aiming to turn the site into a public riverfront destination. Other funded projects will expand health care access, housing, transportation help, and inclusive recreation across Lake and Geauga counties, potentially benefiting many Painesville-area residents.

• Attorney's Office, Marshals Service announce arrests in Northern Ohio violent crime crackdown (mahoningmatters.com) — Northern Ohio law enforcement agencies, including a U.S. Marshals task force team based in Painesville, joined a large summer crackdown that led to more than 600 arrests and nearly 200 seized firearms. The coordinated "Operation Northern Shield" targeted violent fugitives and major drug activity across eight cities, aiming to reduce serious crime during the warm months.
