• How Ravenna is planning to better balance its city wards (centredaily.com) — Ravenna officials are redrawing City Council ward boundaries after learning that about 62% of residents are not evenly represented under the current map. Residents can review and suggest new ward lines at a follow-up public meeting Oct. 3 at Reed Memorial Library, with council aiming to approve a final map by year's end before the 2027 elections. 
• Portage County obituaries for Sept. 25-27, 2026 (theportager.com) — Portage County is remembering several longtime residents this week, including nurse and community volunteer Carlene Patterson, who worked for decades at the hospital in Ravenna and farmed with her family there. Her celebration of life is set for Saturday, Oct. 3, at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home on North Meridian Street in Ravenna, with visiting hours that afternoon.
• 2 gas stations in cities throughout Portage County had the cheapest premium gas in week ending Sept. 19 (portagetimes.com) — Ravenna drivers are paying about $5.29 per gallon for the cheapest reported premium gas, according to recent GasBuddy data for Portage County. The report compares prices across nearby communities and explains how global oil markets and Midwest refinery outages are pushing fuel costs higher this fall.
