• Doan Brook restoration project aims to remove aging dam and reshape Shaker Heights park (news5cleveland.com) — A $31 million Doan Brook restoration will remove the failing Horseshoe Lake dam in Shaker Heights, reshape the stream valley, and create new wetlands, floodplains, and park space. With Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights contributing $7.1 million for amenities, construction could start in 2027 once state and federal permits are approved, and residents can already sign up for guided project tours.
   

• Suspect indicted in Cleveland ATV crash that killed Lakewood woman this past spring (wkyc.com) — A Shaker Heights man has been indicted on aggravated vehicular homicide and related charges after an ATV crash in Cleveland that killed a 23-year-old Lakewood woman in May. Prosecutors say he performed a wheelie, causing her fall, then left the scene; he's now free on bond and due for arraignment Oct. 5, facing up to eight years in prison if convicted.
