📰 News we're reading
• Mini-forest springs up in the city (chagrinvalleytoday.com) — A new mini-forest with 1,100 native trees and shrubs now fills the once-bare corner of Liberty and Aurora roads in Solon, thanks to volunteers, Rooted in Trees, and Solon High School students. City leaders say the project helps replace trees lost to new pickleball courts and will grow into a long-term environmental asset Solon families can watch mature for decades.

• Opportunities to support Solon students fill BOE agenda (chagrinvalleytoday.com) — Solon families are being asked to support local students through Tag Day on Oct. 3 and an Oct. 22 Solon High School visit day for eighth graders living in the district. School leaders also warned that possible state funding rollbacks could erase half of the recently passed levy, urging residents to watch state legislative actions closely.

• Solon Schools program reveals safer schools can start by saying hello (chagrinvalleytoday.com) — Solon students across all schools spent Sept. 22–25 taking part in Start With Hello Week, a Sandy Hook Promise program that encourages reaching out to classmates who may feel isolated. From green-shirt days to videos featuring Solon students, the activities taught kids how simple greetings and shared interests can build connection, reduce loneliness, and help keep schools safer.
