Solon Cracks Down On Drunk Drivers, 3 Arrests Made

Police busted three alleged drunk drivers last week. This week, officers will roll out an OVI checkpoint.

SOLON, OH — Police were led on a car chase last week when an Aurora man tried to elude officers on US 422. The chase ended in Bainbridge and the man was arrested.

Prescription medications were found in the man's car and he blew a .001 on a breath test after he was taken to Solon Jail. That was one of three drunk driving incidents that happened last week in Solon. Read about the other two incidents below.

OVI, May 10 — Police stopped a car on Solon Road after it was seen drifting left of center and then making an improper turn. The driver, a 43-year-old Lakewood man smelled like alcohol, according to police. He also had glassy eyes. Officers decided to put him through a series of field sobriety tests, which confirmed he was impaired, police said. The man was arrested and taken to Solon Jail. He blew a .144 on a breath test. He was charged with operating a vehicle impaired, prohibited BAC, and no turn signal.

OVI, May 14 — Police arrested a 34-year-old Cleveland woman early on Monday morning. The woman was recorded driving 82 mph in a 60 mph zone, police said. Officers said she she smelled of alcohol and had red, glassy eyes. Police found an open bottle of wine in her car. She was given field sobriety tests and was then arrested and taken to Solon Jail. She blew a .135 on a breath test. She was charged with operating a vehicle impaired, prohibited BAC, speeding, driving under suspension and an open container in a motor vehicle.
