📰 News we're reading

• Springfield city clerk retiring; successor appointed (springfieldnewssun.com) — Springfield's longtime city clerk, Regina Jeffers, will retire at the end of October, and city commissioners have appointed veteran law department staffer Sarah Gillis to take over the role. Gillis already handles legislation and public records, and she'll work alongside Jeffers in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition for commission meetings, records, and resident services.

• Springfield theater gives kids chance to find 'their people' (wdtn.com) — Young performers in Springfield are finding confidence and community onstage at the John Legend Theater, where the youth production of "Trolls Jr." is helping kids support one another. Families describe the program as a place where children who love performing can "find their people," build resilience through auditions, and learn life skills that go far beyond memorizing lines and choreography.
