Steubenville enters new chapter under new leadership with Police Chief Wes Crawford (wtrf.com) ā Steubenvilleās police department is now led by new Chief Wes Crawford, a 23-year veteran focused on officer wellness and community relationships. Sworn in this week, he says heās eager to strengthen public safety and build on the departmentās existing foundation while shaping a long-term vision for the city.

2. Jefferson County faces repairs to exposed sewer line (heraldstaronline.com) ā Jefferson County officials meeting in Steubenville are preparing to repair an exposed sanitary sewer line in Cross Creek, a project that will require environmental reviews and federal permits before construction can protect the pressurized pipe. Commissioners also chose a new administrator for the countyās self-funded employee health plan, backed a $4 million recycling land purchase, and advanced website, GIS, airport, and road-marking upgrades that will touch daily life across the county.

3. Steubenville crews to finish downtown alley resurfacing, start new road projects soon (wtov9.com) ā Downtown Steubenville drivers should expect brief nighttime alley work to wrap up soon, followed by daytime closures on Sinclair Avenue next week. City Engineer Mike Dolak says resurfacing Court and Commercial alleys is nearly done, while bank stabilization on Sinclair will restrict through traffic and reroute drivers via Loverās Lane and Cold Hill.

4. Jefferson County Transit seeks state, federal grants to expand late-hour service (wtov9.com) ā If you work late in Steubenville, Jefferson County Transit is trying to make getting home easier. The agency is seeking state and federal grants to add more flexible, appointment-based rides and expand connections to major job centers, with an eye toward eventually offering 24-hour service. Officials expect to learn this fall whether the funding comes through.
