1. Port Authority looking to turn Pico Park into new housing (weirtondailytimes.com) — Steubenville residents may see Pico Park and the old Naval training center site transformed into new housing now that the county port authority has state remediation funding. Jefferson County commissioners and the port director say the long-vacant building is unsafe and costly, and argue that replacing the troubled park with homes could boost neighborhood property values and reduce nuisance activity.

The evening update also notes a Belmont County bomb-threat case heading to trial, Blaine Hill Bridge reopening July 1, a major Oglebay Park gift, and the death of reality TV figure Matt Brown.

3. College of St. Joseph the Worker welcomes revitalization in downtown (wtov9.com) — Downtown Steubenville’s town square is being redesigned into a more welcoming, pedestrian‑friendly gathering space that College of St. Joseph the Worker hopes residents will regularly enjoy. City plans include removing some traffic lights and lanes to make crossing safer, while the college invites families to picnic and spend time there. The first phase of the project is expected to finish in September.

4. Local trio recognized as OVAC Players of the Year (heraldstaronline.com) — Steubenville softball standout Sadie Edwards has been named OVAC Class 5A Player of the Year after leading Big Red with a .551 average, 38 hits, and nine home runs.
