Vote No On Issue 8 - Property Taxes Are High Enough
Hello!
My name is Jai Ranchod and I am writing to remind you of the upcoming property tax increase vote on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. My wife and I recently moved to Stow and were astounded at how high property taxes had become. We all want the best for our communities and our children in particular, which is clearly not perpetually elevated taxes that do not cultivate long-term prosperity for anyone.
While I encourage you to reach out to me via the email address below for a longer form discussion, for now I will simply leave you with the following facts and citations, and ask that you join me in voting “No” on Proposed Issue 8 on November 3rd, 2026.
1.Property taxes in Stow are already significantly higher than the median of the United States, the median of Ohio, and the median of Summit County.[1]
2.Proposed Issue 8 will cost Stow homeowners:[2]
$194 if home appraised at $200,000
$291 if home appraised at $300,000
$388 if home appraised at $400,000
3.Taxes from issue X are in addition to tax increases from the ~17% appraisal increases this year compounding the 31.4% appraisal increases in 2023.[3]
4.Taxes currently consume roughly ⅓of the money you earn.[4]
5.Inflation has eroded the purchasing power of the typical Stow, OH resident by ~$2,500 - $3,500 in the past year.[5]
6.Increased property taxes contribute to financial stress on families causing decreased test scores, decreased student confidence, decreased emotional resilience, increased stress, and difficulty concentrating in school.[6]
