• Fred Gissendaner to enter Akron Public Schools Athletics Hall of Fame (beaconjournal.com) — Longtime Stow resident and former Kent State football standout Fred Gissendaner is being inducted into the Akron Public Schools Athletics Hall of Fame at an Oct. 19 banquet in Akron. The 83-year-old, whose son Lee starred at Stow High School, is celebrated for his record-setting track and football career, decades of coaching and school leadership, and deep commitment to family and the Akron–Stow community.

• Summit County executive lays out course to navigate economic headwinds (beaconjournal.com) — Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro says residents will shape how the county, including communities like Stow, weathers economic and political headwinds, highlighting new housing units financed in Akron, Barberton, Sagamore Hills and Stow.
