Good morning, Toledo! It's Wednesday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on in town today.

Here are the top fivestories today in Toledo:

  1. The City of Toledo plans to resurface over 100 residential streets this year led by the Toledo Department of Transportation. The funding, expected to be $22.5 million, comes from the dedicated roads levy passed by voters in 2020. An interactive map of the proposed repairs is available online. (13abc Action News)
  2. Toledoan Brad McClure is offering to plow the driveways of veterans in the area free of charge. This past Monday, McClure lived up to his promise and spent hours clearing snow from the driveways of local veterans like Robert Walters of the Navy. (13abc Action News)
  3. The Godfather of Shock Rock Alice Cooper is playing in Toledo on Saturday night. Embarking on his 39th headlining tour, the show will be Cooper's third stop and is scheduled to take place at the Stranahan Theatre. (Toledo City Paper)
  4. The University of Toledo is hosting therapy dogs every first Friday of each month at the Carlson Library. The program, known as Paws on Campus, is aimed to help students de-stress and improve their mental health. (Press Release Desk)
  5. Two University of Toledo professors have received honors in this year's Art Commission's Merit Awards. Associate professor of English Dr. Kimberly Mack received the award for Literary Arts, and associate professor of humanities Dr. Ashley Pryor received the award for Visual Arts, Collage.   • Toledo Police Chief George Kral has announced the result of Operation L.A.S.E.R. (LaGrange Area Safety Enforcement Response). Over the course of the project, several firearms have been recovered, multiple arrests have been made, and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of narcotics have been confiscated.   • A new Downtown Toledo establishment known as The Brick Bar has opened at 413 Madison Avenue, the site of the old Murphy's Place. The new establishment offers drinks, food, and live music. (Toledo City Paper)
  • The family of an 11-year-old in Toledo who has been diagnosed with cancer is in need of some community help after the passing of her father in September 2021. April Roe has had to take a leave from her job at Sunshine Communities to take daughter Emma to daily cancer treatments at ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital. (13abc Action News)
