First, today's weather:

Here are the top five stories today in Toledo:
- 27-year-old Joseph Mansfield led police on a high speed chase Wednesday near North Holland-Sylvania and Nebraska. Mansfield had several felony warrants out for his arrest, and attempted to escape on foot after his tire blew out. He was apprehended by Toledo Police and booked into the Lucas County Jail. (13abc Action News)
- The Historic South Initiative is breathing new life into one of Toledo's oldest neighborhoods, affectionately known as the Old South End. The focus has been on homes built in the 1890s and 1900s on Crittenden, Walbridge, Eastern, and Western streets, resulting in higher property values and new homeowners. (WTOL)
- Local entrepreneur Tyrone Frieson, owner of H and Dee's Barbershop, has helped several families pay for life insurance policies after he noticed a disturbing trend of Toledo homicides involving young people. The Glass City has seen a record- breaking 70 homicides so far this year, some of them involving children as young as 14. (13abc Action News)
- Central Catholic High School Class of 2013 graduate Halli Toland appears in the new Steven Spielberg film 'West Side Story.' Toland plays a dancer named Sweden during a the Dance at the Gym scene. Toland attended the University of Michigan, majoring in musical theater, before moving to New York City and performing on Broadway. (WNWO NBC 24)
- The owners of several McDonald's restaurants in Toledo have donated over $200,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio. Owner/operator Matt Mackenzie credits help from the community in reaching this goal, since funds come from donations of extra change for things such as Happy Meals, fries, and promotions like the Shamrock Shake. - This time of year, former police officer Jim Ogle is remembered for being Toledo Police Department's 'Officer Santa Claus' as a dispatcher who would put out calls regarding sightings of St. Nick every Christmas Eve. Though Officer Ogle passed away in 2011, his memory lives on at TPD and the tradition continues with new dispatchers. (WTOL)
- With Christmas just around the corner, the Toledo Humane Society is encouraging anyone considering giving a pet as a gift to have an honest conversation about the responsibilities of ownership. The joy of pets extends beyond the holidays, as they are beloved members of the family and thus require a large commitment. (WNWO NBC 24)
- Non-profit group Nuestra Gente Community Projects is providing gifts and food to 100 Toledo families for its annual Feliz Navidad event. Wednesday was the fourth time the event was held, which has grown larger with each passing year. The center is located at 1411 Broadway Street in Toledo. (WNWO NBC 24)
